The accounts of the foreign travelers in the 18th century and the first decade of the following century are full of observations on the language that the inhabitants of the Romanian spaces speak. From the period of time analyzed, namely the one between the years 1710-1810, travel accounts from a number of 171 travelers that crossed the Romanian space have been identified. Among them, only 23 travelers refer to the origin and the language spoken by Romanians, and among the travelers that speak to us about the Romanity of the Romanians, 11 have liberal professions, 5 are officers, 6 work in diplomacy, and one of them is a merchant, in other words, the majority are the ones with liberal professions. All the voyageurs consider the Romanian language to be a continuation of Latin, relying on the similarities that exist between them. Consequently, the Latinity of this language is within the analyzed time frame a fact accepted by all the voyageurs that write about the Romanity of the Romanians. The sources of inspiration are numerous, from the ancient authors to the medieval and modern ones that wrote about the origin of the Romanian language and people. Others, less schooled, find that Romanians speak a language that many of them, especially Italians, could understand. Therefore, the voyageurs reach the conclusion that the Romanian language is the heir of Latin. The scholars, the ones who had liberal professions, are closer to the truth, managing to capture the formation process of the Romanian language, with the three main components, the Geto-Dacian substrate, the Latin strate and the superstrate of Slavic origin. Among the voyageurs that write about the origin of the Romanians, 22 travelers clearly determine that Romanian was formed from Latin, and 18 also speak about the origin of the Romanians, which they reconstitute correctly, them being the descendants of the Roman colonists that settled in Dacia, after this province was conquered, through the contact with the Geto-Dacian population. Consequently, for all of the travelers, the language spoken by Romanians represents the fundamental element in determining their origin. Only secondly does historical data, such as archeological sources or ancient and medieval chronicles, which speak about the Roman origin of the Romanians, make the foreign voyageurs consider the Romanians as the descendants of the Romans. In both cases, the majority of the voyageurs manage to reconstitute correctly the process of ethnogenesis and glotogenesis, respectively the presence of numerous words from the Slavic and Turkish language, for Țara Românească and Moldavia, and from Hungarian and German for Transylvania. There are also 5 travelers that manage to make a difference between the name of Romanians, as they call themselves, and the name of Wallachians, attributed to them by foreigners, in other words, the fact that Romanians had two names
