Rezumat

The public sector requires a judicious use of resources based on the principle of efficiency. At the same time, it is necessary to be able to observe an optimal concordance between the level of economic and social performances obtained in the public administration. Modern services are extremely heterogeneous and, as a result, cannot be expressed by a single synthetic indicator. That is why several partial indicators are used. These indicators can be grouped into three categories: economic, socio-demographic and ecological. The social efficiency is the indicator that can be most difficult expressed quantitative. There are several criteria for measuring the economic and social efficiency of public services. The economic efficiency and social efficiency of public service providers usually complement and condition each other.
