Actuality: Cervical cancer ranks on second place from all types of cancer in women aged 15-44, according to available data from the International Cancer Research Agency (ICRA). WHO data reports that, at global level, every 2 minutes a woman with cervical cancer dies, each year 528,000 new cases are diagnosed and 266,000 deaths cases are registered. Etiological treatment for HPV infection does not exist. Eff ective methods in the cervical cancer fi ght are the primary prevention by HPV vaccination. According to GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization) HPV vaccine has been introduced in 74 countries. Clinical trials to monitor the duration of vaccine protection have estimated an immunogenicity of up to 8.4 years and an effi cacy of up to 9.4 years. Concerning the safety of the vaccine - there is worldwide vaccination experience of over 100 million people who have been given over 280 million doses of HPV vaccine with no PVAE (post-vaccine adverse events) confi rmed. Th anks to the WHO support, GAVI, RM benefi ted from the Gardasil tetravalent vaccine - which is performed free of charge in the vaccination offi ces of the Family Physicians Centers, starting with December 2017, for girls aged 10 years, in two doses, at 0 and 6 months. Th e aim of the study: evaluation of vaccination results in the Republic of Moldova. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study over the period 2018-2019 that included 10-year-old girls from all over the country who were subjected to HPV vaccination. Th e results were extracted from the medical records of the family doctors’ centers according to the domicile. Results and conclusions: it were estimated that during the period of January 2018 - December 2019, 11.167 girls were vaccinated, only 46.3% of the quota planned by the IMSP AMP. Th e study determined the following vaccine coverage in the country: Balti (32.3%), Ciadîr-Lunga (32.8%), Chisinau (43.9%), Cahul (44.3%), Rîșcani (46.6%) and Donduseni (49%). Seven administrative territories have fully used the vaccine stock. From PVAE (post-vaccine adverse events), only one case was registered in the Orhei district, manifested by panic attack. As a result of the performed research, it was estimated that the HPV vaccination is insuffi cient (46.3%) and requires a more effi cient communication of the persons empowered with the target population and a thorough explanation of the benefi ts. CC (cervical cancer) is a silent cancer, visible by which the clinical signs usually very late and HPV vaccination - is a useful tool in the fi ght with it. Th e autochthonous medical community wants to raise awareness for CC and advocate for eff ective prevention methods through HPV vaccination, not excluding the screening. |
