Rezumat

Lexical and semantical peculiarities of bread nomination in the Gagauz traditions. The article considers some specific features of bread nomination and its cultural semantics in Gagauz language. The following Gagauz bread’s names: kolaç, pita, çörek, ekmek, kıırma are analyzed. Being used in the terminological phrases these words, adjectives or nouns, point to the shape or ritual function of a bread product, as well as to its correlation with certain subject or ritual person, with the nomination of a rite or a holyday. The metaphor and metonymy are the key methods of nomination in the considered contexts.
