Rezumat

Annually, January 25 is celebrated as the day of Russian students or Tatyana’s Day. On this day, in 1755, the Moscow University was established by the Russian Empress Elizabeth I and it served as the beginning of the celebration. It is also believed that St. Tatiana is the patroness of all student youth. This holiday is also celebrated in the Republic of Moldova. This event did not go unnoticed in the media and was covered on the pages of the Chisinau newspaper „Russkoe slovo”, which was taken as the basis for this study. Firstly, the newspaper reflected that the Organizer of Tatiana’s Day was the Russian Community of Moldova with the support of the Russian Center for Science and Culture. Secondly, it was emphasized that Tatiana’s Day, being both a secular and religious holiday, was able to unite representatives of different generations. According to tradition, the priest dedicated his story to the life of the Holy Martyr Tatiana. Events were held in cities such as Chisinau and Balti. Thirdly, the newspaper noted that the culmination of the celebration was a meeting with students from various higher educational institutions of Moldova. This event provided an opportunity for peers to find new friends and to get to know their interests better. A number of school and student ensembles prepared a theatrical performance. It has become traditional for the students of the theater department of the Slavic University to arrange a theatre stage with the participation of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, Mikhail Lomonosov and Count Shuvalov, where the signing of the Decree on the establishment of Moscow University was shown. Fourth, in different years, the „Russkoe Slovo” newspaper highlighted the fact that exhibitions of works by artists or concerts were arranged. In addition, students performed various songs by playing the guitar. And finally, as it should be on this day, all Tatyans were honored. The event ended with a festive tea party.
