The article aims to define the terminological metaphor and to analyze the approach on it in various specialized studies. Familiarized with its poetic structure, we are increasingly surprised to find it in scientific works, where the meaning is deciphered from the origin of the term. The interest in using this process in various texts as thematic and style is explained by the force of the metaphor to express the essence of a phenomenon deeper and more relevant than words without stylistic connotations. The phenomenon of metaphorization is studied both in Aristotle's work and in the researches of contemporary theorists. The semantic analysis of specialized languages has demonstrated the widespread use of metaphor in the formation of terms. In the contemporary theories of discourse analysis, the tendency to reconsider the metaphor as a fundamental instrument of knowledge construction becomes obvious, exceeding its operation within the limits of the poetics.

Articolul urmărește definirea noțiunii de metaforă terminologică și analiza diacronică a acesteia. Fenomenul metaforizării este surprins și cercetat atât în lucrările filozofice ale lui Aristotel, cât și în cele ale teoreticienilor contemporani. Analiza limbajelor de specialitate probează importanța metaforei în formarea termenilor. Familiarizați cu valențele sale poetice, suntem tot mai surprinși să o regăsim în lucrările științifice, unde semnificația este descifrată pornind de la originea termenului. Interesul pentru utilizarea acestui procedeu în texte variate ca tematică și stil se explică prin forța metaforei de a cuprinde esența unui fenomen mai profund și mai relevant decât cuvintele lipsite de conotații stilistice. În teoriile contemporane centrate pe analiza terminologiilor, metafora este abordată drept instrument de cunoaștere, depășind substanțial limitele demersului liric.
