Increase in quantity of trees per area unit or decrease in spacing between trees and tree rows led to decrease in fruit weight from 1 tree and did not always lead to increase in yield per area unit. Two- and three-row planting designs were inferior to the one-row design relatively to the total cropping and fruit quality during the age growth. For more than 10 years management of orchards the recommended planting design for the cultivar ‘Antey’ and similarly fruiting cultivars are 4 x 2-1.5 m (density being 12501665 trees per ha) on the semi-dwarf rootstock 54-118 and 4 x 1 m (density being 2500 trees per ha) on the dwarf rootstock 62-396. |
