In the article are investigated comparative data of postoperative complications associated with positioning the patient who underwent posterior fossa craniectomy. For this retrospective study was conducted on 57 patients with tumors of the posterior cranial fossa, which were subjected to a craniectomy in the sitting or lying on its side. Data were collected at the National Scientific and Practical Center of Pediatric Surgery "Natalia Gheorghiu", Department of Neurosurgery, in the period January 2001 - December 2009 and classified by age, sex, location of tumor according to the situation of the patient during surgery. It was a comparative assessment of neurosurgical and neurological complications, also the disorders of cognitive functions in pre- and postoperative period. The number of liquor in the region of surgical wounds resulting from surgical interventions in the region of posterior fossa craniectomy performed in a horizontal and sitting position , did not significantly differ. The disorders of cranial nerve function in the postoperative period compared with preoperative period was noted in using the horizontal position, but the convulsive syndrome was noted at the performing neurosurgery in the sitting position. Disorders of cognitive functions (subclinical, abortive, neurotic, autistic, verbal, psychotic syndromes) in the postoperative period in children with tumors of the cerebellum does not depend on the position of the patient during surgery. |
