Rezumat

Ferrocene containing compounds are well known for their electrochemical and catalytic activity. They are interesting for both fundamental (magnetic coupling, multiredox processes) and practical (photonic and redox devices, molecular electronics, anticancer activity) applications [1-4].  We report herein on the synthesis and structure of 1,1'-bis(2,2'-dipyrromethane)ferrocene (Fc(dpm)2). The synthetic route to the target compound is given in the scheme below:   Fig. 1. Synthetic route to Fc(dpm)2 The compounds were purified by column chromatography on silica gel and were identified by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The structure of the target compound Fc(dpm)2 was established using single-crystal X-ray diffraction (Fig.2).   Fig.2. Crystal structure of Fc(dpm)2 In the future we will try to use 1,1'-bis(2,2'-dipyrromethane)ferrocene as a N4 ligand to produce for example, dimers and one-dimensional polymers.
