Rezumat

A two-step procedure was followed to prepare two iron complexes of 4-imidazole carboxaldehyde-derived Schiff base. In this aim, 4-imidazole carboxaldehyde was reacted with stoichiometric amount of ethylene diamine in refluxing methanol.formulahe formed azomethine was separated and subsequently reacted with Fe(ClO4)2 in methanol forming a crystalline complex and also with Fe(ClO4)3 in the same conditions. The ligand and both complexes were characterized by spectral analysis and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The thermal stability was investigated by thermogravimetrical analysis while the moisture behavior was evaluated on the basis of the dynamic water sorption capacity.
