Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is a commonly used immunosuppressive medication, conditioned as acid form, as sodium salt or as prodrug, mycophenolate mofetil. MPA is used for the prevention of organ transplant rejection in adults and renal transplant rejection in children older than two years [1]. There are several pharmaceutical solid dosage forms containing MPA on Romanian market, with strengths of 180 or 360 mg per tablet [2]. In this study, we evaluated the compatibility of MPA with ten common pharmaceutical excipients, namely starch, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, calcium lactate, mannitol, PVP, SiO2, sorbitol, magnesium stearate and talc, using as investigational tools thermal analysis in dynamic air atmosphere (TG/DTG/HF data), FTIR spectroscopy and PXRD patterns |
