An online Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system was developed and implemented. The benefits of implementing Pest Management system include reduced chemical input costs, reduced on-farm and off-farm environmental impacts, and more effective and sustainable pest management. In addition to the wide geographic availability of material, the Internet offers the advantage of very quick delivery, and the material itself is usually as current as possible. System is a comprehensive source of biological and management information on IPM. The system include software that assists growers in making decisions concerning early pest/disease forecasting microclimate information and decision support. This site uses both static (text, graphics, and tabular) information and dynamic (databasedriven and server-side programs) information. System hosts various databases and knowledge-bases on different aspects of pests biology, ecology, and integrated management. Its degree-day calculator can be used from anywhere in the world for forecasting pests phenology under local conditions. The pest profiles with important pest information, including environmental factors, influencing pest development, biology description and electronic photograph of the pests and damage symptoms, economic importance and thresholds are components of System. |
