Ionizing radiation and its lasting effects on the thyroid gland At the 25 years after the biggest nuclear disaster, there is still a lot of polemics and controversy regarding
its chronic long term consequences. However, thyroid tissue lesion by the radioactive products is a well known condition. This article presents data about the mechanisms, prevalence and the dynamics of thyroid morbidity in subjects that have been exposed to
radioactive irradiation. |
