Rezumat

It is known that salicylic aldehyde reacts with alcanolamines forming the biologically active Schiff's bases which exist in different tautomeric forms in solution and solid-state. It was found that change of the nature of solvent and insertion of substituents in a benzene ring leads to shifting of this equilibrium in one or another direction. In many cases the biological activity of the above-stated substances will be well-coordinated with their composition and structure. However, the study of structural features of given class of compounds was devoted to condensation products on the basis of mono- or three-atomic amino alcohols. Therefore our investigation was focused on the study of Schiff bases structures obtained from such diatomic amino alcohol as 3-aminopropane-1,2-diol. In this connection we report the results of X-ray diffraction analysis of 6-{[(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)amino]methylidene}cyclohexa-2,4-dien-1-one (I) and 6-{[(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)amino]methylidene}-4-nitrocyclohexa-2,4-dien-1-one (II). These compounds were synthesized on the base of condensation reaction of 3-aminopropane-1,2-diol with 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 2hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde. In the crystal I and II form the two-dimensional hydrogen bond networks which govern the crystal structure organization.
