Evoluția semantică a unităților polilexicale stabile (UPS) poate duce la dezvoltarea polisemiei lor. Transformările din cadrul UPS se desfășoară pe două căi: a) derivarea morfematică din cadrul UPS duce la formarea cuvintelor noi; b) derivarea frazeologică contribuie la apariția cuvintelor și îmbinărilor de cuvinte sub influența UPS, ceea ce duce uneori la formarea nоilor sensuri la cuvintele componente din UPS sau la îmbinări întregi de cuvinte. Dinamica dezvoltării semantice a UPS poate duce la defrazeologizare: apariția sensurilor noi, independente, ale componentelor UPS, la pierderea caracteristicilor de bază ale unității glotice date. În procesul evoluției semantice ale UPS se mai observă și fenomenul demotivației, când componentele UPS încep să fie percepute ca unități glotice separate. Unele UPS își modifică aspectul cuvintelor, rămânând în limba contemporană variantele lor. odată cu dispariția anumitor realități, obiecte ori acțiuni, dispare motivația utilizării unor UPS, astfel că o parte din ele au trecut în fondul pasiv al limbii. S-a ajuns la concluzia imposibilității modelării semantice în plan generativ a unităților frazeologice, pe când locuțiunile se pot preta la o anumită pronosticare, desigur ea având un caracter relativ și limitat, privitor la apariția și semantica lor.

The semantic evolution of stable polilexical units (SPUs) can lead to the development of their polysemy. Transformations within the framework of SPUs take place in two ways: a) the morphemic derivation within SPUs leads to the formation of new words; b) phraseological derivation contributes to the occurrence of words and word combinations under the influence of SPUs, which sometimes leads to the formation of new meanings of the words in SPUs or to the whole word combinations. The dynamics of the semantic development of SPU ‘s may lead to dephraseolization : the emergence of new, independent, SPU components, to the loss of the basic characteristics of the given linguistic unit. In the process of semantic evolution of SPUs, the phenomenon of demotivation is also observed, when SPU components begin to be perceived as separate linguistic units. Some SPUs modify the aspect of the words, preserving their variants in the contemporary language. With the disappearance of certain realities, objects or actions, the motivation to use SPUs disappears, so some of them became the passive fund of the language. The conclusion is made about the impossibility of generative semantic modeling of the phraseological units, whereas the locutions can be adapted at a certain prognostication, of course having a relative and limited character, regarding their appearance and their semantics.
