At a time of growing interdependence between sovereign states and of a changing balance of power between them, the European Union is trying to find its own role to play in global governance. All this is occurring in a context where the EU has set high ambitions for itself to become a strong and cohesive force in international affairs, notably with the creation of the European Common Foreign and Security Policy. In this context, the present article concentrates on the analysis of the “soft” strategies promoted by the EU, particularly towards the Republic of Moldova, in order to ensure a sustainable security in the region. |
