Rezumat

Social assistance is a young social science with an interdisciplinary character, that has its aim research specific to that object regularities, specific categories, principles and research methodology. Currently, social assistance is been reformed in the Republic of Moldova, in order to shape them into a whole, focused on meeting the needs of beneficiaries, the skills and capacities, as well as reduce the risk of marginalization and social exclusion. Social community services and the creating of the national network of social workers are important elements of this system. A prerequisite for the consistent development of a quality system of social services is the development of skilled human resources in the system. At present, achieving effective social assistance requires absolutely necessary field training specialists - social workers equipped with skills and knowledge, able to accurately determine social diagnosis, made on the basis of thorough preparations and scientific approach to problems in order to establish  appropriate approaches and accurate and constructive social therapies. In our view, welfare reform in Moldova needs to contribute to the professionalization of activity in social services, the changing values and mode of action of social workers and the development of modern management concept. This strategy can be done in terms of academic training system based on a modern conception according to international standards but also to the needs of beneficiaries from our country.
