Rezumat

The genus Echeveria DC (Crassulaceae family) contains a significant number of succulent plant species, many of which are well known for their decorative value and are used both for garden decorations and as flower pots or in bouquets and arrangements. Their widespread use is largely due to relatively modest demands on cultural conditions and, implicitly, on care work; In addition, they are easily multiplied by seeds, leaf cuttings and stem cuttings. The present paper aims to determine the capacity of leaf cutting by some Echeveria taxa (E. lilacina, E. 'Green Pearl', E. 'Doris Taylor', E.' Dionysos' and E. 'Scheideckeri'), depending on the position of the leaves on stem (in the rosette of the mother plant) and the weight of the leaves used as cuttings. The experiments were set up in the greenhouses of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Iasi, Romania, and the observations were made during 2017-2018. The results obtained have shown that the plants of the genus Echeveria have good propagation capacity through leaf cuttings, but it is recommended to use the rosette base leaves for E. lilacina and cv. 'Dionysos', respectively the younger leaves, from the upper part of the rosette to the cv. 'Doris Taylor', 'Green Pearl' and 'Scheideckeri'.
