The long-term economic stagnation, which caused the numerical decrease, the imbalance between the sexes and age groups of the population, especially in the rural environment of the Moldova, between 1991 and present, has a negative impact, also, on human habitat. This impact is first and foremost caused by the aging and ruin of a significant part of the housing stock and of the buildings left or poorly cared for, then by the numerical reduction and the physical degradation of the buildings for education, culture, health, social services, on the base of massive, unmotivated expansion of the habitat in the Chisinau area, which reduces the chances of sustainable regional development in the republic (claimed, but not sustained by the state authorities). It is strictly necessary to create an efficient management of the human habitat assessment processes in the country, which at the moment indicates huge arrears, which can no longer be neglected.
