Rezumat

There are 23 chickpea accessions from Moldova in the collection of the National Center of Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine (Kharkiv); 17 of them are breeding varieties, others are local accessions. Long-term study of these accessions allowed their comprehensive assessment and identification of sources of valuable economic characteristics. Sources of high yield were determined (Botna, Sandulets, UD0500255, etc.); large seeds (UD0500255, UD0500256, UD0500463, etc.); large numbers of pods and seeds (Kagulskiy 22 and Kostyuzhanskiy 217); ascohyta blight resistance (Floreshtskiy 58/76 and SEB 119); early maturity (Botna, Sandulets, Ichel, UD0502052). The genetic remoteness of Moldovian accessions from Ukrainian varieties makes them important sources to increase polymorphism of breeding varieties. Modern varieties such as Botna, Ichel and Sandulets have sets of valuable traits: in addition to high yields (110 - 183% related to the standard)/ They are increased protein content (over 20%), early maturity (vegetation period 76-77 days) and suitability for mechanized harvesting.
