In the research 60 children with primary glomerulonephritis in different clinical-evolutionary stages were examined for the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF-BB) concentration. The PDGF-BB level in the urine increased in 3.5-3.7 times in the steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) and steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) onset time in opposition to the control group. During the remission period, PDGF-BB levels in the urine reached the control level in acute glomerulonephritis nephritic syndrome and remained elevated in SSNS and SRNS, although they were decreased relative to the values of the acute period. The evaluation of urinary PDGF-BB concentration in children with glomerulonephritis is a biochemical marker suitable for the severity determination of the pathological process, the estimation of sclerotic changes in the kidneys, the differentiation of SSNS and SRNS and the estimation of the effectiveness of the implemented treatment |
