Preconceptional care constitutes one of the best based evidence way to prevent complications during pregnancy and post-partum period. However, it is not suffi ciently highlight as a prophylactic activity for maternal, perinatal and infant mortality. A survey of 253 pregnant women and women after birth was realized. The survey appreciated that 67,0% of women have planned pregnancy, and 56,1% did a preconceptional exam. Only 37,9% of women’s partners have participated in preconceptional care. A number of 20,1% women whom received preconceptional care didn’t take folic acid. In 90.2% of cases, women which have prepared for pregnancy have received perinatal care during the fi rst 12 weeks of gestation, compared with 77.4% of women who did not plan pregnancy. Although the authors are aware of the degree of subjectivity of the study, the results suggest that there is a need for a complex situational analysis of the problem related to the knowledge, attitudes and behavior of the population at the preconceptions stage in the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, prospective research should also include issues related to the level of competence of medical workers and their motivation in preconceptional training of couples, taking into account multidisciplinary and intersectoral approaches, including family and community involvement. Another direction of research would refer to the perception of medical workers and the population about the concept of “family planning”, which is currently equivalent to the term “contraception” and practically does not include the preconceptual component. WHO recommendations and international experience can present an important support for straightening the preconceptional population health and care.. |
