Rezumat

The term « embrayage paratopique » defined by Dominique Maingueneau in “The Context of the Literary Works: Enunciation, writer and society” delegates us to the duo of author and his works, and, at the same time to the world represented in the plays and to the « paratopic situation by which the author constructs the world ». In his theater works “Le sang des promesses” (The Blood of Promises, 1999-2009), Wajdi Mouawad, a French speaking author of Lebanese origin, here serves a large space for the theme of alienation of an individual in the heart of a family, social and national groups, etc. A paratopic situation, in which we find the protagonists in the first two plays of the tetralogy, Littoral, Incendies (Scorched), half-orphans, placed in a strange environment, reflects perfectly the situation of the playwright, taken from his idyllic childhood in his native country, forced to change, twice, his host country. This article demonstrates the study of the quest for roots of the Mouawad’s characters, in which we can find the traces (elements) of the ancient myths of Oedipus (Jeanne and Simone) and of Antigone (Wilfrid).
