The natural carriers of potassium in the soils of Moldova are four groups of minerals: mica, potassium feldspar, illite, and smectite (illite-smectite). On accessibility to plants the first two represent a potential reserve, second two - near reserve, exchange potassium is the immediate reserve. Factors influencing the potassium reserves in the soils of the country include their granulometric composition, the age and origin of the soil-forming rocks, the type of soil formation, the biogenic potassium lift, the anomalies of the mineralogical composition of the rocks. Depending on the factors of influence and according to the given examples, the potassium reserves are in the range: immediate - 5-51 mg/100 g, near - 130 - 1930, - potential - 257 - 1720 and total - in the range of 1340 - 3150 mg/100 g. The highest reserves of potassium belong to alluvial soils, the middle ones to chernozems, the lowest to forest soils. The reason for differences is the age of soils and rocks in which they formed. |
