Rezumat

Fertigation – a way of fertilizing plants through the application of dissolved minerals in combination with irrigation water. The introduction of fertigation was a natural and effective step in the development of agricultural technologies, and developed techniques and methods of use of chemical fertilizers for plant nutrition made successful application of this system on irrigated lands, with using the existing irrigation equipment possible. However, elements of the agricultural practices (terms, dosage, methods of fertigation, environmental factor) are still not well studied. Field experiments were conducted over the period of 1999–2001 on the educational-experimental farm of Dnepropetrovs’k State Agrarian and EconomicUniversity “Samarskiy”. The purpose of research – to explore the best standards, methods and terms of mineral fertilizers under intensive technology of maize growing, taking into account environmental considerations in irrigation. The results have shown that while growing maize under intensive technology in irrigated lands in the northern steppe of Ukraine it is reasonable to apply nitrogen fertilizers along with irrigation water in the proportions as follows: 40 % of the overall dose in the phase of 10–12 leaves, 40 % – in the phase of pinnacle ejection and 20 % – in the phase of milky ripeness of the grain. Under such application of nitrogen fertilizers average grain yield of maize increased by 2.72-4.36 t/ha compare to that without fertilizer application. The results of research indicate that the combination of irrigation with mineral fertilizers (fertigation) is an effective course of saving energy and material resources, increasing productivity and quality of the grain yield of maize, soil protection from degradation.
