The objective of the study was to assess the incidence of some genetic, environmental and metabolic risk factors in patients with pseudotumoral chronic pancreatitis (CP) from Republic of Moldova. The study included 21 patients with pseudotumoral CP and 100 healthy people. The polymorphism of PRSS1, PSTI/ SPINK1, CFTR genes was determined; venous blood was used as a sample, with the use of the polymerase chain method (PCR) and of corresponding primers, in the Laboratory of the Institute of Genetics of the Academy of Sciences of Republic of Moldova. The presence of mutant alleles of the PRSS1 gene has been determined in 15 (71.42%) pts – 11 (73.3%) heterozygous and 4 (26.66%) homozygous; of the SPINK1 gene in 19 (90.47%) patients – 9 (47.36%) heterozygous and 10 (52.63%) homozygous; of the CTFR gene in 17 (80.95%) pts – 12 (70.58%) heterozygous, 5 (29.41%) homozygous in the group of the patients with a pseudotumoral CP, in association with other risk factors. Genetic and environmental risc assessment may help identify individuals who are likely to develop severe chronic pancreatitis early in the disease course, and allow targeted attention to reduce confounding risks and slow the frequency, complications and prevent this disease in the future. |
