Purpose of study: To compare the dipersion of antenatal and postnatal diagnosis of fetuses with CHD and to appreciate methods of choice in stabilizing and supportive care of newborn with CHD. We retrospectively reviewed the results of 332 patients undergoing fetal ultrasound over the year 2013 at the principal tertiary referral center Mother and Child Health Care Institute. The median gestational age at presentation was 21 weeks. The accuracy of fetal cardiac diagnosis was validated by neonatal cardiac investigations or autopsy. Results. A total of 46 cases of congenital heart disease were identified antenatally during 2013 with the majority (13,8%) referred because of suspicion of cardiac malformation during an obstetric scan. Of 46 fetuses with congenital heart disease suspected by obstetric ultrasounds, 32 had confirmed cardiac defects There were major differences involving the atrioventricular morphology in 34,8% of cases and the outflow tract anatomy in 30,33%. |
