In this study some lines of demarcation or affinity between lexical, phraseological and motivational meanings are drawn. Scholars’ views on this aspect of research are brought out. Explanations are made as for the content and sense given to lexical, phraseological and motivational meanings. The meaning of the word is determined by the interaction of three factors: ontological, notional and functional. Generally, the same statements can be made as for phraseological meaning but with some reservations. They are studied in the article below. Motivational meaning of the word is its specific sign. Motivation is the structural and semantic capacity of the word that allows us to become aware of reciprocal influence of the sound form and its meaning by comparing it with other lexical units of the language. There are the following types of meaning motivation of the word: lexical and structural motivation, which is word expression of classification index of the designated object. Lexical motivation and structural motivation are realized by the internal form of the word (IFW). Horizontally, IFW components are motivational form and motivational meaning, vertically – motivational part and forming part. |
