Study included 60 children with primary glomerulonephritis, including 25 children with nephritic syndrome, 20 children with steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) and 15 children with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) examined at different clinical and evolutionary stages of the disease. The control group constituted 20 basicaly healthy children. The results of current study showed high levels of cell signaling molecules (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α) during clinical manifestations, that constitute a significant moment due to their major role in immunopathogenesis mechanism of proteinuria in SN. Determination of urinary concentrations of signaling molecules may be useful as a predictive non-invasive method used for the estimation of disease activity and monitoring of disease progression in children with different types of glomerulonephritis and for developing effective and differentiated therapeutic strategies in these patients. |
