The Black Sea region is not only a geographical or political concept. It is a significant transit corridor between Europe and Asia and it is full not only of opportunities but challenges as well. This article describes the cooperation between the European Union and the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in different fields of interests. The countries from the Black Sea area have deepened their interest in the EU issues. Besides, this region has become an important field of interest for the EU not only because of the energy and security sectors, but also economically, as a constantly growing market and as an external border of the Union. More close cooperation between the EU and the BSEC, as well as the opportunities for the implementation of some joint initiatives and projects in different fields are the main points in the BSEC — EU dialogue. BSEC can be seen as an important part of the European integration processes, promoting the EU norms, standards, practices, principles and policies among its members. |
