The article deals with the development and validation of the Questionnaire of political socialization. Political socialization is an ensemble of processes of social experience assimilation by individuals, their participation in the political life of the country, as well as the assimilation of norms and values common to certain political culture. This type of socialization is an important factor in ensuring stability and continuity of the political culture. Political socialization forms the civic consciousness, and encourages to defend their own political interests by legal means. The questionnaire consists of 45 questions and statements which form 11 scales. The questionnaire brings to light four categories of the political socialization influenced by the cognitive, emotional and behavioral contexts. The political consciousness that represents the political trust, political attitudes, including the level of interest / indifference to political life; political identity determined by the civic identity (patriotism, identity with their country and their fellow citizens), ideological identity (the degree of adherence to traditionalism and graduation individualism-collectivism), the identity of specific political forces (a form of social identity); political participation that implies individual participation (readiness to personally participate in political life), electoral (participation in elections and related installation) and political interaction (discussing political topics in the family, among friends, the internet, etc.); institutions of political socialization represented by the influence of certain institutions as a whole – the family, educational institutions, the media, the social environment and the political parties, political socialization agents – familiar, well-known experts, web popular opinions, political analysts, journalists and bloggers. The authors also investigated the effects of different types of mass media: Internet blogs, TV, Internet sources, radio and newspaper sources. They present the description of methodology, techniques of validating and testing the tool of measuring the political socialization using the results got from the sample of 200 of young people, mostly students of 18-35 years age. |
