The local practices and state policies in applying the media standards of the Council of Europe (2001-2009). The Republic of Moldova in the period 2001-2009 had made discontinue efforts to align the national legislation to the Council of Europe standards. The state policies in applying the media standards of the Council of Europe had been often criticized by international organization, civil society and mass media. The intervention of the Council of Europe and other international organizations as well as active involvement of civil society in drafting media policies had prevented and attenuated the antidemocratic sideslips.
