Schengen Convention was intended abolition of controls at internal borders for all, along with the strengthening of external border controls. It establishes a common visa policy, the possibility of processing asylum claims, judicial and police cooperation and exchange of information. Provisions of the Schengen acquis in the first category to be applied to the accession to the EU are not subject to the Schengen evaluation process, while those in the second category should be implemented and applied simultaneously with the lifting of internal border controls and are subject to the Schengen evaluation process.
