В исследовании уделено внимание специфике экономических отношений и факторов, определявших функционирование римской императорской армии, экономической роли государства в поддержании эффективности военной машины. Кроме того, рассматривается производственная деятельность, состав и иерархия оружейных служб легиона. Описание системы снабжения вооружением базируется на анализе различного вида источников. Также анализируется деятельность частных и казенных производителей оружия и государственная политика по отношению к ним. Специальные главы посвящены организационным и технологическим аспектам оружейного производства. Вопросы, связанные с изучением производства вооружения для римской армии, важны для изучения боевой эффективности римской военной машины, экономического __________и технологического уровня, достигнутого римлянами, и сложной организационной системы снабжения войск оружием. Оружейное производство Римской империи эпохи принципата представляется сложным феноменом. Основное оружейное производство было сосредоточено на тех территориях, которые наилучшим образом были обеспечены сырьевой базой и имели давнюю оружейную традицию. Кроме того, ареалы оружейного производства находились на стратегически важных участках римского приграничья. Armamentul armatei romane din epoca Principatului: aspectele economice, tehnologice şi organizatorice ale producţiei şi aprovizionării În prezenta monografi e, autorul studiază producţia de armament defensiv şi ofensiv a armatei romane din epoca Principatului. Este focusată atenţia asupra specifi cului relaţiilor economice şi a factorilor, care determinau funcţionarea armatei romane imperiale, precum şi asupra rolului economic al statului în menţinerea efi cacităţii mecanismului militar. Pe lângă acestea, sunt analizate activitatea de producţie, componenţa şi ierarhia serviciilor, legate de producţia armamentului pentru legiune. În baza diferitor tipuri de surse, este descris sistemul de aprovizionare cu armament al armatei. De asemenea, este analizată activitatea producătorilor privaţi şi statali ai armamentului, precum şi politica statului în relaţia cu aceştia. Capitole separate sunt dedicate aspectelor organizatorice şi tehnologice ale producţiei de armament. Problemele, legate de studiul producţiei de armament pentru armata romană, sunt importante pentru cercetarea efi cacităţii de luptă a mecanismului militar roman, nivelului economic şi tehnologic, atins de către romani, precum şi a sistemului organizatoric complex de aprovizionare a trupelor romane cu armament. Producţia de armament în Imperiul Roman în perioada Principatului este un fenomen destul de complex. Producţia de bază era concentrată pe acele teritorii, care erau bine aprovizionate cu materie primă şi aveau în spate o tradiţie îndelungată de realizare a armamentului. Pe lângă aceasta, arealele de producţie a armamentului erau concentrate şi pe sectoarele frontierei romane, importante din punct de vedere strategic. În acelaşi timp, particularităţile regionale ale ornamentaţiei armamentului arată, cât de solicitată era producţia atelierelor private, a căror activitate era orientată doar spre moda militară şi gusturile clientului. Armament of the Roman Army during the Principate: Economic, Technological and Organizational Aspects of Production and Supply The author studies production of arms and armour for the Roman Imperial Army during the Principate, as well as considers specifi c economic relations and factors connected with Roman Imperial Army and describes the economic role of the Roman government in ensuring eff ectiveness of the military machine. Moreover, he considers production activities, structure and hierarchy of legionary armory shops. Description of arms and armour supplying system is based on diff erent types of historical sources. Furthermore, the author analyses activities of private and state-owned arms manufacturers and “vagrant” groups of craſt smen. Special chapters are devoted to organizational and technological aspects of arms and armour production. Problems related to the armament production for the Roman army are important for those studying combat eff ectiveness of the Roman military machine, economic and technological level of the Romans, and complex organization of arms and armour supplying. Armament production of the Principate seems to be a complex phenomenon. One can conclude that the main armament production was focused on those areas that have been well provided with the raw material base and had a long-standing tradition of the armory craſt . In addition, areas of armament production were placed in the strategically important sectors of the Roman frontier region. However, regional features in the armour decoration show how products of private craſt smen and their workshops were in demand among individual customers. These workshops of the Principate favorably diff ered from the later state armories, because late Roman workshops performed standardized large-scale orders to meet the needs of the increasing army.
