Rezumat

Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez is one of the main exponents of the magic realism. This fact allows to absorb a grid of pre-Colombian myths and symbols, as well as Christian, Greek and Latin elements, etc., among which we find implicitly marks of narcissism. The symptoms of narcissism can be encountered not only at the level of individuals, but also collectively. In the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, besides the growing digression spectrum of love, recognition and incest appear as derivatives of narcissism manifested at the nation level. Already genetic attraction between family members leads to the total disappearance of the family Buendía and Macondo. Ursula’s caution and vigilance weren’t able to face the prescribed fate of those who were condemned to solitude. Rehearsal of names, facts, gestures, thoughts, dreams, prophecies are multiplied as in a mirror, so as Narcis doubled his image in the water mirror. Hallucinatory replay of the same image is an indicator of the sense of loss of sheer origins and meaning of life.
