Dobrogeanu-Gherea’s ideas regarding the role and mission of the artist, a problem that has a very important place in the context of his aesthetic views on art with social tendency. We identified Ch. Sainte-Beuve’s influence on Gherea’s critical method; at the same time, we revealed several ideological differences in the interpretation of the criteria of an artist’s morality, in the context of the C.
