Rezumat | ||||||
The causes of the Russo-Turkish War of 1806-1812 lie in the worsening of Russian- French relations in Europe, especially the so-called Eastern Question. By signing the Bucharest Peace Treaty of 16/28 May 1812, Russia has managed to get the strip of territory
called Bessarabia along with the whole Moldovan territory between Prut and Nistru rievers, simultaneously obtaining an access to Danube and extending the name of Bessarabia over the whole annexed territory. It was the beginning of a very thorny international issues, exploited first by Tsarist Russia and then the Soviet Union. |
