Bessarabian component of the Great Union of 1918 is the most sensitive part of the process, since Tsarist Russia, metamorphosed into Soviet, always opposed the inclusion of its „gubernia” into the Romanian kingdom. Constantin Stere played a key role during the historic events of the spring of 1918. At his suggestion, Sfatul Tarii decided on March 27, 1918 the forever union of Bessarabia with its motherland, Romania. Among the major figures who contributed to the completion of the political unity of the Romanians, Constantin Stere’s still the least valued posthumously.
