Adhesive otitis media: correlations clinical, functional and morphopatological
We present the analysis of clinical manifestations, functional characteristics and surgical
findings in children suffering from adhesive otitis media. We registered adhesive changes in
tympanic cavity in 35 % of all OM cases. Age of child, age of onset, duration and expressivity of the disease are predisposing factors to adhesive otitis media. Stabile abnormal results of
impedance audiometry in dynamics, otomicroscopical picture during surgery, tympanic
membrane and tympanic cavity morphological changes are the most important points for precise diagnosis. Diagnostic of adhesions is important for prognosis of the disease evolution and adequate treatment. Adenoidectomy alone or it combination with medical treatment do not prevent from retraction pockets formation. Complex treatment including tympanostomy and adenoidectomy decreases risk of adhesive and chronic otitis media formation. |
