Eastern Partnership builds on the achievements of the European Neighborhood Policy, which was developed in 2004, for the 16 southern and eastern neighbors, and the purpose of these policies are to strengthen security and stability, and preventing new divisions between EU and its neighbors. It was launched in May 2009, in Prague, its purpose is to implement a political association and economic integration between the EU and its Eastern neighbors. This situation would imply new association agreements including deep and comprehensive areas of free trade and gradual integration into the EU economy. Also, this would facilitate travel to the EU through gradual visa liberalization, accompanied by measures to combat illegal migration. |
