Dumitru Crudu’s third novel Un american la Chisinau (An American in Chisinau), published in 2013 by Casa de pariuri literare publishing house (Bucharest), is proof of the evolution of the novelist’s narrative art. This article focuses on the novelistic construction, on the referential support of the intertext that the author uses as well as on their aesthetic effects. It also analyzes the nature and behavior of the characters, the relationship with zero level texts and their impact on the representation of the world in the novel An American in Chisinau.
