Rezumat

Shigellosis represents an important problem of public health. The implementation of the standard case definition in the surveillance system is a priority for the Republic of Moldova. The objective of this study was to evaluate the peculiarities of the epidemic process of dysentery in the municipality of Chisinau. The basis of epidemiological analysis includes the data on the incidence of acute dysentery for many years and one year and other epidemic characteristics (age groups) of the population of the municipality of Chisinau, registered during 1997-2012. With this purpose the materials of the national archives, the municipal health center of Chisinau (annual reports, explanatory documents, acts of epidemiological studies) have been studied. In the etiological structure of dysentery up to 60% falls on Shigella sonnei that preserves the ability of an outbreak. For this purpose the laboratory diagnostic algorithm of the 200 cases of confirmed acute shigellosis has been evaluated.
