Maternal vitamin D deficiency is frequently encountered in different ethnic groups and
geographic regions, the socioeconomic factor being far from playing the main role in its
incidence. The study helped us to establish that the intake of 2.5mg (100 000 IU) of vitamin D
on the 6th month of pregnancy allows normalizing the vitamin D status in newborns with no risk
of overdose, and with a positive impact on skull vortex mineralization and height in utero, and
lowers the incidence of neonatal hypocalcaemia. |
