Rezumat

This article finds today's society at pause, between tradition and secularism, the theory of secularization that now provides a sufficient basis for analyzing the role of religion in the contemporary world, the identification of the functions and characteristics of religion in the context of the modern society. Most studies in this area provide a positive feature of the secularization phenomenon, while in the ecclesiastical surroundings progressive secularization actually is more a cause for anxiety. This paper highlights the negative consequences of secularization (the loss of the sense and courage to live, eroticism, individualism, the religious indifferentism, etc.) and does criticize the typical exaltation of the superman, which led to an increasing separation of the world from God. Piety new genres, likes of "New Age" (new spirituality of man, thirsty for happiness and full implementation), are seen as a chain of esoteric sciences, occult practices, magic rituals or psychological experiences. At the same time, Christians should not be confused with the enemies of science, the society recording and certain developments (better living conditions, the increase of average life, inventing of new drugs, the organ transplantation). At this level, the fight is not against science, but only for the human usage of it performances.
