The article raise the issue of contemporary art, trying to outline the general understanding of the features of this ambiguous term. The author argues the need to support and promote contemporary art, in the realm of moldavian culture, as an innovative and conceptual art form integrated in the local and general European context. According to established features the authore identifies the representative artists for this cultural segment, highlighting the significant role of Pavel Brăilă, Ghenadie Popescu, Ștefan Rusu, Mark Verlan, Vasile Rață, Valeriu Șchiau, etc. In addition, the attention was pointed to the contribution of Center for Contemporary Art, Chisinau (KSA:K), as well as the other organizations and significant exhibitions that drew attention to contemporary art. |
