Rezumat

In 1997, a fragment of a marble relief with a tauroctony scene was found in Tyras. It depicts a male head wearing a Phrygian cap (Cautopates), a bust of the god Sol, and the edge of a fluttering cloak on which a raven sits. It was found near a building with an apse (No. 610), which adjoins the wall of the Roman citadel from the outside. The discovery of a relief fragment indirectly confirms the assumption that this structure functioned in the 2nd-3rd centuries AD and served as a mithraeum.
