Intercultural education aims at a psycho-pedagogical approach to cultural differences, at the level of personality, culture, society, etc., a strategy which takes into account spiritual or other specificities (gender difference, social or economic difference, etc.), avoiding, as far as possible, the risks arising from unequal exchanges between cultures. The intercultural approach is not a new science, but a new methodology which seeks to integrate the data of psychology, anthropology, social sciences, politics, culture and history into education. Our society is becoming increasingly complex. Migration, the multiplication of contacts, the disappearance of clear borders are obvious realities. Intercultural literacy' is now a global necessity, a specialised form of education for all, which places pupils and their cultures in a position of differentiated but equal treatment. Intercultural education should not be limited to good intentions, to a special, demonstrative action, presented only in the case of exchanges of experience. Interculturalism must be a constant in education, a permanent way of life. The sociological research carried out at the State University of Physical Education and Sport, Chisinau, R. Moldova, in the period January-March 2022 on a sample of 100 people (students from the faculties of Pedagogy, Sport and Kinesiology), aimed to identify the respondents' opinions on some aspects of intercultural education: the level of knowledge of this field, attitudes towards intercultural issues, obstacles to intercultural education, the need for intercultural competences in future professional activity, motivation to train intercultural competences and their impact on future activity. |
