În articolul de faţă sunt analizate problemele cui i-a aparţinut iniţiativa reluării negocierilor sovieto-germane, în ce a constat importanţa lor pentru părţi şi la ce mizau ele, de ce URSS a preferat tratatul cu Germania continuării tratativelor cu Anglia şi Franţa, care sunt cauzele unui astfel de pas, existau pentru URSS alternative reale acestui tratat, care au fost urmările imediate şi îndepărtate ale lui pentru securitatea URSS şi a altor ţări, ce a căpătat Hitler de la pactul cu Stalin şi care este importanţa pactului de la 23 august pentru declanşarea războiului, s-ar fi hotărât Hitler să năvălească asupra Poloniei fără semnarea lui şi ar fi început în aşa caz războiul la 1 septembrie sau nu începea deloc.

The given article analyzes questions to whom the initiative in renewal of the Soviet-German negotiations belonged on, what was their value for the parties and what they counted on, why the Soviet Union has preferred the contract with Germany to continuation of negotiations with Great Britain and France, i.e. what were the reasons of such a step, whether the USSR had real alternatives to the given contract, what are its nearest and more remote consequences of security and other countries that Hitler had recieved from the pact with Stalin and what is the role of the pact from 23August for the war beginning, i.e. would Hitler dare to attack Poland without its signing and would the war begin on the 1st of September in that case or, in general, would not begin.
