Rezumat

In the transformational phase of the social representations, the individuals tend to reject the new situational configurations in favour of maintaining the values and /or the norms of older times. Why does this happen? In an attempt to offer a consistent answer to this question, A. Neculau, a reputed romanian psychologist, founding member of L’ Observatoire Europeen des Representations Sociales and at the same time member in ordinary of the European Association of Experimental Social Psychology, had lead, a few years ago a vast and original campaign of psychosociological interviews. The recorded results have lead to the conclusion that the individuals’ unwillingness to accept, immediately and obviously, the changes that take place at the level of the social representations can be explained by the existence of four types of intrinsic refusal- the refusal originated by the wish to maintain a balance, the refusal motivated by the already acquired competence, the refusal that comes out of ignorance and finally the refusal as a result of social conformism.
