The translation represents one of the key elements of the dialogue between peoples and cultures. The article deals with the literary translation in the Republic of Moldova, its role in the context of Europeanization and Globalization. The valuation of the literary translation in the process of European integration has a great importance. During many centuries the literary translation in Europe played an essential role in diffusing knowledge and new ideas. It has contributed a lot to the consolidation of the European idea. The author presents several opinions and theories concerning the importance of translation and its connection with the European values and passes in review the activity of the most famous and prolific Moldavian translators who have done a big job in promoting the works of the best writers through the Romanian language. After 1989, the linguistic situation in the Republic of Moldova has changed a lot. The collapse of the Soviet Union generated a special interest of the Western World for the culture of the countries from Eastern Europe. As a result, the Romanian literature from Bessarabia has passed the frontier thanks to the translations which are a genuine opening to universality.

Traducerea reprezintă unul din elementele cheie ale dialogului dintre popoare şi culturi. Articolul este consacrat traducerii literare în Republica Moldova, rolului acesteia în contextul europenizării şi globalizării. Valorificarea traducerii literare în procesul de integrare europeană este de importanţă primordială. Pe parcursul multor secole traducerea literară în Europa a jucat un rol esenţial în difuzarea cunoútinţelor şi ideilor noi. Ea a contribuit considerabil la consolidarea ideii europene. Autorul prezintă diverse opinii şi teorii ce ţin de importanţa traducerii în strânsă coeziune cu valorile europene şi face o trecere în revistă a activităţii celor mai prolifici traducători basarabeni care şi-au adus aportul la promovarea operelor celor mai buni scriitori prin intermediul limbii române. După 1989 situaţia lingvistică din RM s-a schimbat mult. Colapsul Uniunii Sovietice a generat un interes aparte a lumii occidentale faţă de cultura ţărilor din Europa de Est. Drept rezultat, literatura românească din Basarabia a trecut dincolo de frontierele naţionale, graţie traducerilor care reprezintă o adevărată deschidere spre universalitate.
